I’m so excited about the options in the stores this fall – there are so many beautiful colors and big, bold patterns to be found. I ‘scoped last week from Old Navy (ps – are you on Periscope? I’m loving this new platform! Find me @argphotographs) because there was so much potential in the store I HAD to share it with someone!
It doesn’t get any easier than one stop shopping – and bonus when you start this early, you can strategically shop while things are on sale. Old Navy in ON POINT with trends this fall/winter and they have so many pieces that would work for layering depending on the weather. The trick to this compilation is the play with tones and color families. Red and green are complimentary which means that their tones are, too. The burgundy, plum, teal, aqua, pink and cream makes a harmonious and a little unexpected color story.
I wish that Banana Republic had a kids line – can’t you even imagine the cuteness? But paired with Mini Boden classics a family story is written. I might even be inclined to wrap a scarf around mom or a swipe of bold lipstick and a blazer or vest on Dad would be delightful. Layers are always more interesting in photographs – think chunky knits, beautiful fabrics, metallics and metals, etc.
Gap is always a safe bet – they can clothe the whole fam-bam, including specials sizes, in a few clicks! I don’t tend to have the best luck IN the store for myself or my husband, but their extended sizes online (short legs for me, tall legs for hubs) make it easy to find coordinating looks. Don’t be afraid to go bold – but keep everyone a little bold (unless you particularly want someone to stand out). Also, mix up some patterns together – a stripe and a floral, a houndstooth and a tweed – just be sure they’re in the same color story.
I am definitely a proponent of mixing and matching from multiple stores – but I have to advocate for busy mamas out there. There is a beauty in one stop shopping – and these stores are so accessible. Also, as a note, I’m not affiliated with any of these stores. Come back next week for another handful of family looks.
