Hello, good girls! Mother’s Day is sneaking up on us rather quickly, doesn’t it feel like? I sometimes miss the days where my teacher would have a craft ready for me to make and take home on the appropriate Friday to gift to mom over the weekend. I always loved the my mom LOVED whatever crap – I mean CRAFT – I brought home. And you know? SHe STILL loves all the crafty-crap I make her. So this year, craft grown up style for you mom – and it’ll be anything BUT crap!
As a teacher, one of my favorite mother’s day gifts to create with my students was a small flower pot filled with whatever flowers I could talk the local landscaping stores into giving me for free – with a card about blossoming or watching me grow, what mom could resist the cuteness? One year in college, I painted Jojo some flower pots and actually planted flowers in them. She still has the pots and I love this updated and au currant version of a painted terra-cotta pot:
These “drip pots” via Clever Nest take literally no time at all and would be darling with the color block pots:
Have you seen the amazing DIY Cake Plates that are all over? Maybe it’s because I have a deep love for cake plates (As in, I collect them. When we travel. Ask FMG how many he’s hand carried back from various trips. Sweet man.) but delivered with sweets on top, how could this be a bad gift? Also, this is a perfect updated gift for all of those ‘second’ moms in your life.
I love that the “face” of the plate was preserved on this thrift store find via Rambling Renovators:
Have a momma that likes drama? This confectionary tower via Shanty 2 Chic is just right for cupcakes, flowers or candles. I wouldn’t mind having one!
This amazing pie and tart tin creation would be perfect doubled as a counter organizer or in mom’s studio or office for supplies.
What mom wouldn’t love to get a love letter in the mail every month? Across town or across the country, this is a winner! Collect some cute printable quotes and happy-sayings (I KNOW you have some pinned already – if not search “printable quote” and you’ll find a gazillion). Decorate a frame and mail mom the frame with the first thoughtfully selected printable. Then, at the beginning of the month, mail her a new insert. Would also be precious for pictures of grandbabies (human or furry kind) or pictures of you and mom.
These world map frames are simple and perfect for the mom who loves to travel (or who’s family is spread out all over!). Be sure to take into account how large the glass or opening is when you’re printing mom’s inserts.
A quick trip to the scrapbooking and embellishing section of any craft store and you’d be hard pressed to NOT find something perfect for your frame. A little paint, and voila!
Delia Created made this frame wreath for her front door and, with the glass inside ,it would be a darling display for your love letters to mom.
So get crafty, glam girls! Mom will love it because it is from your hands and took your time… and besides, it’s totally better than the
crap crafts you brought home from school.
Head over to The Wardrobe Code and check out the amazing style Nicole is showing ,perfectly capturing the icons of style we grew up loving – our mommas.
