Oh, winter. You make me feel frumpy. As much as I love the boots and cozy cashmere and warm glow of the fire I feel bulky and frumpy and COLD! This year, TExas has NOT had a coldcold winter – we’ve had some downright balmy days, in fact. But staying chic in the winter is still a challenge.
First on my list of winter must haves is a great set of silk long underwear. Silk, my friends. It’s warm warm warm and will fit under just about anything and not be a bulky, chunky mess. This scoop neck top and pants are from LLBean and are very reasonable for something you only need one set of!
There is ZERO reason to be wearing your old, coffee stained, kinda-too-small gloves. You can’t beat a good leather pair for warmth but I just LOVE the fun knit gloves that are all over this winter. Snag a few pairs while they are on sale and stash ’em away for next winter. These cheerful finger warmers are all from Kate Spade (surprised? no? haha.). Do you phone a favor and be sure your gloves are smart and will tell your phone what to do.
Don’t let your hair ruin the day – top your tresses with a fabulous hat. From a structured cloche to slouchy and chic to a fabulous fedora, hats are back in a big way – and don’t look like they will be making an exit any time soon. Keep your head out of the clouds and on the street with a style that suits you to a T. All of these honorable mentions are from Nordstroms.
Lastly, there is NO NO NO excuse to step out in a dumpy frumpy coat. Yes. Guilty. And I KNOW better!!! There are so many cute and warm options available that there is just zero reason to wear your husband’s sad leftover fleece. Choose a mid-thigh coat in a flattering cut for the leanest look. Bonus points for a great neckline and you know you can’t go wrong with black! These cozy coats can be found at Nordie’s.
Stay chic, my friends. Freezing weather or not! And for more delightful winter chic wear head to Hello Misha, please! She put together a fabulous round up!
