Um, I know nothing about warts. But it was the logical next part of the song. So… about those rosy cheeks.
What kind of care are you giving your rosy cheeks? Are you a full-routine gal or a fall into bed with yesterday’s mascara still on and wake up to bronzer smeared pillow gal (<— me. /guilty). It’s time to get serious about taking care of your face, kids. I’m not well versed in the gazillion different products out there, but I can tell you what works for this fair-skinned, freckled, super dry with an occasional PMS or stress induced breakout girl. There are so many products out there – I can’t even pretend to be an expert. Although the products might not be glam, beautiful skin is always glam. This is what I love:
1a. Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cleanser // This stuff is like a spa in my shower. I love the tingly clean it leaves my face. The smell is uh.mazing. It rinses clean without feeling dry. I was leery to try it – and to be perfectly upfront, I tried it for free as part of a Burt’s Bee’s campaign – but I’m on my third tube and the campaign is long over. It’s wonderful. It works just as great in the sink as it does in the shower and it’s taken care of me over the dry, cold winter months.
1b. Philosophy Purity Made Simple Face Cleanser // My go to spring, summer and fall cleanser. I really prefer the foaming version – but it’s not available in stores any more. ::sad face:: Never too drying, this workhorse gets it ALL off. Waterproof mascara, magenta lipstick, spray on bronzer. Everything. There’s a reason its an award winner, folks. It’s awesome.
2. St. Ives Apricot Scrub // My favorite high school throwback. Used sparingly, this stuff makes me feel like my face has been sandblasted. I don’t know if thats good or not… but every now and then a good scrubbing is in order. There are many who think using this particular scrub is akin to scraping your cheek on concrete but it works for me. Invest in an exfoliator that works for you and your skin type!
3. Philosophy Hope in a Jar with SPF 25 // When I hit my mid-20’s I got serious about taking care of my skin. This was the first major change – and investment – in my new skin care routine. I love that it has the SPF built in so I don’t have to think about adding another layer on my face (just for daily wear – I still slather the SPF on for pool and beach time!).
4. Garnier Skin Renew Overnight Peel // Did I mention that I’m fair skinned? Like, fair = day-glo, fair skinned. And I have a TON of freckles. Most of them are what my momma calls “angel kisses” – little, soft, whisps of freckles. But some are legit sun and “age” spots. This overnight treatment is one of the only products I’ve used that actually helped diminish the big ugly spots. Bonus – my skin feels amazing after using it. Extra Bonus – you put it on over night and don’t have to think about it again! I do NOT have the patience to wait for a peel during the day or the time to schedule an appointment for a super chemical peel. I also use it on my neck and chest and hands. Yes! The backs of my hands. The third spot that gives away a woman’s age (right behind the face and neck.).
Next on my list to find? A great foundation … mommy hood, my 20’s, and life is catching up to my face. Any suggestions? Check out the awesomeness that Misha found for your face over at FabBites.
Until next week, good girls! xx
