It is SO hard to buy clothes for Petite. I mean, there is NOTHING cute out there and nothing is EVER on sale! What am I supposed to put my precious bébé in?
Just kidding. Y’all knew I was kidding, right? Part of the reason I wanted a girl was for the extra shopping. (Kidding again. Kinda.)
But it IS a challenge to find affordable, stylish, wash and wear clothes that are en trend but still let her look like a little girl.
You can see it’s obviously torture for Petite to go shopping with me.. ha. We hit up Old Navy (side note — I called around to see which Old Navy had the biggest kids & babies’ department, and SATX friends, head to the Rim! Great selection!) to take advantage of the spring/summer sale they’ve got going on right now.
We perused the baby section and I quickly realized that at 10 1/2 months old, Petit was no longer in the “baby” clothes! She’s just too long for most of the lengths in the 9 mo and 9-12 mo apparel. Thankfully, there was plenty to pick from in the 12-18 mo size and I’m thinking most of it will fit her through the summer. Here’s what made the final cut:
This sweet yellow dress will surely get a ton of wear this summer — and while the weather is trying to warm up, it’s perfect with a long sleeve onesie and cotton leggings layered under it.
The elastic in the back means that she’ll be able to wear it all summer long .. which is such a plus, don’t you think? Not only because its economical but also because I am so sad every time she outgrows something cute! I want her to get lots and lots of wears out of each outfit.
I just love this romper – from the pretty crocheted look appliqué to the sweet feminine ruffle on the sleeve. It’s a perfect updated classic!
This one is just a little bit big on her now, but at the rate Petite is growing, I’m betting she’ll be in it by late April. I thought this would be a great transition piece during late summer and early fall, when it’s still a bajillion degrees outside.
Of course, we had to have a denim skirt – it’s the workhorse of any little lady’s wardrobe! And isn’t that puffed sleeve swiss dot top the sweetest? It’s a super soft, lightweight cotton that will keep her cool in the heat.
This outfit is probably my favorite for right now. The gather on the front of the tee is a great detail taking it from plain to perfect and the skinny jeans actually stay up on her long legs! With tops and bottoms this cute, I don’t think we’ll have a hard time transitioning from just onesies rompers – though don’t expect them to disappear from Petite’s wardrobe any time soon!
