Y’all. If a Mint Julep was made for spring time, this cocktail was made for fall. It will be a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving spread, because we all know a *little* indulgence can make the family time just that much better. My Dad goes through “cocktail of the week” spurts and this cocktail not only made it through the week, but is now on the regular house menu. The Charturse is a little bit of a splurge, but a little googling will turn up several more recipes that call for it’s awesomeness. Enjoy! (And pardon my terrible pictures… all I had was the iPhone. I didn’t know the goodness that was coming…)
Kentucky Rose ( From Garden & Gun – one of my MOST favorite magazines!)
2 oz. Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon
(yeah, it’s the best… but any good (GOOD y’all) bourbon will do!)
½ oz. orange juice
½ oz. simple syrup (agave works well, too…)
½ oz. lemon juice
1 strawberry (this girl is allergic to strawberries. i made it without. it was still pretty awesome.)
2 sprigs of rosemary
1 barspoon of Green Chartreuse (or pour some in a glass. it’s more efficient )
Muddle strawberry in a mixing glass.
Add bourbon, orange, lemon, and simple syrup. Shake with ice and strain into rocks glass over fresh ice. Yup. Thats a lit candle. It’s essential to the effeceintcy of this cocktail. I’d hate for oyou to need to light a match everyone you made one. And you’ll be making more than one. Promise.
This part is important. Pay attention.
I misspelled chartreuse. I feel sad.
Coat rosemary sprigs with Chartreuse, light with match and then immediately blow out. Or use a candle. And be by a sink or have a cup of water nearby… safety first!
Stir cocktail with rosemary and leave in drink as garnish. YUH-UM. This was obvi mine. It’s sans strawberries. WIth the strawberries it turns a lovely rose color!
